Alluring Alpacas' Farm is located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountians. Our Georgia alpaca farm is selecting and breeding alpacas for robustness and fiber production. Since fiber production is the primary purpose of alpaca farming, breeding the animals for fiber quality and quantity is the most important asset - behind animal health and robustness. Our herd is a mix of Chilean and Peruvian alpacas, ranging from 1st generation to cria born at our Georgia farm this year. Alpacas are a South American camelid imported to the United States for the purpose of producing fiber for use in clothing and other consumer products. Alpaca fiber is generally much finer and softer than wool. Additionally, alpaca fiber is hollow, making it a good insulator from the cold. It's amazing to see alpacas in the coldest mornings, with shelter available, standing in the one of the ranch fields as sun rises with frost on their backs - acting as if they haven't a care in the world! Alpaca fiber has such incredible insulative qualities that alpacas actually prefer cooler weather - becoming more playful and energetic as the temperature drops. We're within easy driving distance of North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee. |
